Free cataract surgeries
The patients at eye check-up camp found for want of cataract surgeries at village Khadki, 80 kms away from Nagpur. we decided to convince the needy patients to come to Nagpur and have free cataract surgeries which in general cost Rs.30-35 thousand if done at hospitals. As the villagers were reluctant to come to Nagpur for the surgeries we visited 3-4 times to the village and convinced them, the result was in the first batch 5 lady patients got ready to have cataract operations. unfortunately, in the batch of 5 only 1 patient was eligible in all aspects for the surgery. hospital denied to operate other 4 patients due to various medical reasons. the successfully cataract operated patient is Mrs. Pushpa Bondre. the other patients were advised to visit later. the rejected patients were given the medicine by the hospital.
